Sports Extra-Curricular

Fun and fitness

Right from Year 7, there are loads of opportunities for playing, watching and learning about sport. This year we have extra-curricular sports clubs in 26 different sports. Our teams compete widely at local, regional and national level. And of course there are our inter-house competitions too.

We also have close links with external sports clubs who use the school facilities for training, including Dart Netball Club, Torbay Tigers Basketball, South Devon Athletics, Galmpton United FC and Brixham Cricket Club.

Trips and visits

We organise trips to watch elite level sports such as Team Bath netball, England rugby and Somerset cricket, and visits to higher education establishments like Bath University and Plymouth Marjons.

As you go up through the school, you get the chance to join in outdoor and adventurous school trips such as water sports in the Ardeche, and skiiing in Switzerland, and our tri-annual sports tour which has visited Holland, South Africa and Canada in the past.

“As a new student at the beginning of the year, the sports tour to Holland at half term was a great opportunity to get involved with a new group of lads.”

Developing your sporting talents

There are plenty of other opportunities for keen sports students, such as gifted and talented workshops at Plymouth Marjons sports training lab, guest speakers (in the past these have included swimmer Cassie Patten and pentathlete Heather Fell), and a leadership academy for aspiring young coaches and volunteers.

For the sports leadership awards, students work within the Brixham/Churston sports partnership to organise a sports festival for our eight main feeder primary schools.
