At this years Devon County Swimming Championships, 9 Churston pupils represented Paignton Swimming Club over 4 weekends in January and February.
A big Bonjour from Anna, Alice, Isla et Lottie the year ten students who taught the children from Hayes and All Saints primary schools this month. It was a pleasure to see them engage so well with years four and five.
Three teams of Y10s from Churston recently flew to London to take part in NESTA’s Longitude Explorer Prize semi final event. The challenge is to create or improve a product, app or service that uses AI technology to make the world a better place. Based on the premise that we would all like to live in a world where people can live longer, live better, live together, and live greener, and that technology has a positive part to play in this optimistic future.
The Philosophy and Ethics department is pleased to congratulate Rufus Sherville (Thompson) and Lily Reshad (Brunel) for coming fourth and fifth,
respectively, in the University of Nottingham’s Dare to be Philosophical? competition.
National Apprenticeship Week runs until 9th February, celebrating diversity in apprenticeships and the benefits they bring. More and more young people are choosing to do apprenticeships each year and the biggest and most popular companies are hiring apprentices.
Over 100 students from years 7 to 13 were involved in last terms’s performance of “A Night at The Musicals”. After some tough auditions the lead roles were cast and the rehearsal process began.
Churston Ferrers Grammar school welcomed Babbacombe Primary School on Tuesday 9th December for a French workshop. It was all about les animaux marins et les chiffres, la presentation and c’était of course très amusant et instructif!
On Sunday 6th October 2019, Thomas Ridalls (year 9) from South Hams Martial Arts travelled to Sherborne to grade for his 1st Degree Black Belt. Thomas passed and is now a 1st Degree Black Belt……the result of hard work and years of dedicated training. Well done Thomas.
