Joel Clifton in Year 9 recently represented the South of England at wheelchair basketball and his team won the British Championships. The event was called ‘The Lord Taverner U15s Regional Championships’ and it was held at the Worcester University arena in August.
Joel had to attend two trials around the Reading area to be selected. Out of 19 players, only 10 were selected and Joel was one of them.
Joel said “Wheelchair basketball has been my hobby and passion for nearly 6 years – I’ve done this championship 4 times and have recently won twice in a row”
As it’s Joel’s passion, he intends to attend the annual event again next year and in the long term dreams of playing for Great Britain, playing for a team abroad or making a living from it.
Well done Joel!
