Starting to belong
We want your child – and you – to feel part of Churston already by the time they arrive in Year 7, so we hold activities in the summer term of Year 6 to help them make the transition:
- Induction day: This will give your child a chance to spend a whole day at the school, with some sample lessons and a chance to meet other students joining the school in September.
- Parents’ information evening: Come and meet the pastoral team, learn a bit more about Churston, and have a chance to ask any questions.
- PTA fun evening: This popular event takes place on the sports field, and is the students’ first opportunity to find out who else is in their tutor group. They can start getting to know them right away as the tutor groups form teams to battle it out in an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style competition.
You find out your form at the fun evening and make new friends – one of my best friends I made on that evening – and all the games are really fun. – Year 7 Student
If you have any concerns you can always contact the Year 7 pastoral care team.
