This is what staff say about working at the school:
“I am grateful for the opportunity to have joined Churston more than 20 years ago. The school has provided me with a supportive and stimulating environment to learn and grow, both professionally and personally.“
“I have been very fortunate to have worked in different roles within the school and the support, guidance and encouragement from colleagues and managers has been invaluable. Churston Grammar is a community and this is evidenced by how enthusiastically alumni and ex colleagues return and are welcomed back into school and how such close contact is encouraged and maintained.“
“Everyone at Churston was so helpful and welcoming. I have had opportunities to get involved with school trips, SWIFT training events and other extracurricular activities.“
“I would add that the school has been able to thrive so well thanks to the fact that both leadership and governors stay abreast of innovation in the education sector.“
“Churston has provided me with a plethora of professional development opportunities. I progressed to being a Head of Department, after undertaking my Middle Leader Development Programme. I was well supported in the transition to this role, shadowing the former Head of Department before undertaking the role. Whenever I have been ready for a new challenge, there have always been opportunities available and I now have other responsibilities alongside my Head of Department role.“
“The support I received during my NQT/ECT year was invaluable, exposing me to exemplary practices across a range of subject departments.“
“I joined Churston in 2004 and was struck by the uniquely friendly, supportive ethos of the school. It was clear that students and staff enjoyed strong relationships, and the focus, the heart of the school, was in exactly the right place. I am happy to say that this is still the case today, nearly 20 years on. Churston is a genuinely wonderful place to work.“
“I have autonomy over the way in which I work and as such I am trusted to achieve the high expectations set. Career development opportunities are plentiful; I have had the opportunity of running several projects in the school over the past few years. The students are a great bunch and the learning culture here strikes the right balance of work and play.“
